Description:

In today’s competitive business environment, companies are hungry for good talent and need to do everything they can to attract and retain the best people. But how does a company differentiate itself and become an “Employer of Choice” within their location or within their industry.

Join us at the Kohler Experiential Learning Center as we explore these questions and share our own best practices for success.

We will have two presenters in the morning. First, we will have Rebecca Deschane, Talent Initiatives Director, who has a joint appointment with Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) and the University of Wisconsin System. In this role, she leads and coordinates both organizations’ statewide efforts to attract and retain talent.

Rebecca will talk to us about Maintaining Wisconsin’s Workforce Leadership: Think-Make-Happen In Wisconsin® – how the state is leveraging a strategic talent marketing campaign to attract and retain a competitive workforce. In addition to an update on Wisconsin’s paid media campaign, the presentation includes ideas on workplace best practices, community-based strategies and talent engagement tactics designed to attract, engage and inspire existing and future talent.

After Rebecca, Suz Brewer, Chief Brand Officer of EatStreet, will tell us how EatStreet has positioned itself as an Employer of Choice in Madison for the three most recent generations in the workplace.

In the afternoon, Will Ruch, CEO of Versant, and Lindsay Ruch, JD and Vice President of Versant, will coach us on becoming a Destination Workplace: How do you make your workplace a destination for people who are already employed or who have multiple choices? What makes you unique?

In this session, you can expect to learn:

  • How to define your company culture
  • How to find your organization’s voice
  • How to bring your story to life!

Each participant in the session will receive, compliments of the UWEBC, a copy of the book, HR and Marketing: Power Partners, which Will co-wrote with Pat Nazemetz. Many of the things discussed in Will & Lindsay’s presentation are detailed in the book. As always, there will be plenty of time during the day for Q&A and table discussions to ensure that everyone returns home with some key takeaways and actionable ideas!

Who Should Attend: The HR Executives SIG is limited to HR directors and VP's at UWEBC member companies. Lower level managers and/or knowledge experts may attend if accompanied by a director or VP from their company. For questions or to learn more about the HR Executives SIG, please contact Beth de Garcia.
