Human Resources Executives Special Interest Group Meeting

Effective Change Management
September 13, 2018 09:00 AM - 03:00 PM
Learn how UWEBC member companies initiate, implement and manage people-related change from an HR perspective.

It doesn't matter if your organization is large or small, the one thing we can be sure of is that change is ever constant in today's business environment. That, however, doesn't mean that change is well-embraced by our employees or that we, ourselves, are always managing it effectively.

When changes fail, they often do so due to lack of preparation, poor communication and/or employee resistance, all of which can result in duplicated efforts, inefficiencies, wasted resources and disengaged employees.

In this session, you will have an opportunity to hear from other member companies who will share their steps and approaches to implementing change within their organizations. As always, ample time will be given to discussion.

Our presenters for the day will include Tina Seashore and Andrew McDonald of Oshkosh Corporation's HR department, who will give a case study on the new approach to change management being used by their organization in light of a major technology implementation. This will be a very thorough look at the project and will include a program/technology overview, scope, vision map, org structure, risk assessment, service escalation model, communications being used, discussion of key messages. design, governance, training, and a readiness assessment.

In the afternoon, we will be joined by Lori Cross, president of Mindspan Consulting in Madison. Lori is also an instructor in UW-Madison's Executive MBA program, where she teaches classes in Strategic Leadership. Lori will examine recent discoveries regarding decision-making and change management in the minds of both leaders and followers. Then she'll discuss powerful techniques for assessing mindsets and custom-designing action plans that will maximize change effectiveness.
