Indirect Procurement Special Interest Group Meeting

Kickoff Meeting
April 04, 2019 09:00 AM - 03:00 PM
Join us for the inaugural meeting of the Indirect Procurement SIG, where we will discuss current member challenges in the indirect space and discuss contract management from an indirect perspective.

Indirect Procurement is a topic that is relevant to all UWEBC members whether they have a formal Indirect Procurement department or if it is managed by a distributed team. Aggregating and managing spend across categories companywide is an effective way to drive efficiency and cost savings and is no longer focusing on MRO. Categories like marketing, health care/benefits, contingent labor, IT, SAAS are becoming the domain of the indirect team at many member companies.

As a result, we are introducing a special interest group (SIG) focusing on Indirect Procurement. We will plan to meet twice a year and start-off this meeting by identifying what topics are currently challenging members and address those in upcoming meetings.

In the first installment of this SIG, we will spend the morning learning about each other’s indirect procurement structure. If each member company can bring a scrubbed copy of their org chart pertaining to Indirect, that will help the conversation along in terms of visualizing each others structure. We will continue with a discussion on contract management in the afternoon.

The process of contract management is becoming increasingly complex as more categories are added to the procurement departments scope. We will look at what organizations in the room are doing in terms of processes and utilizing software to manage the complexity with limited resources.

We will end the day by finalizing the charter for this SIG, a document that outlines the purpose, potential topics and goals of this special interest group.
