Logistics and Distribution Peer Group Meeting

Current Transportation Challenges and Discussion on ELDs
March 06, 2018 09:00 AM - 03:00 PM
Learn how member companies are handling today's challenging capacity environment, plus how ELDs have and are going to affect the industry.

After three years of relative calm in the domestic transportation industry, the past eight months have seen capacity tighten and rates rise particularly on the truckload side. Similar capacity constraints have crept into the global airfreight market also. Ocean rates from Asia have risen steadily from their late 2016 lows and the parcel integrators continue to announce annual increase and peak season surcharges. At this meeting we will discuss among the group some of the ways member companies have mitigated these pressures and how they plan to address further constraints in their logistics networks.

Jeff Dudzik, Global Transportation Manager at Rockwell Automation will discuss how they are approaching current market conditions. Representatives from member company Schneider Logistics will come share their unique perspective being both an asset carrier nationally and a 3PL globally and how they are managing capacity with their suppliers. We also tentatively have member company J.J. Keller & Associates coming in to speak about the Electronic Logging Device Mandate and what it means to the overall industry. Breakthrough Fuel will also be coming in to talk about fuel surcharges and the general environment concerning fuel prices and add-ons.
