Human Resources Executives Special Interest Group Meeting

Executive Development and Succession Planning
June 27, 2019 09:00 AM - 03:00 PM
A strategic, systematic and integrated approach to leadership development and succession planning is vital to every company’s long-term success. Join your peer HR leaders to learn and share key aspects and proven practices for effective succession management.

Every company’s future success hinges on the effectiveness of its process for identifying, cultivating and transitioning future leaders. This process involves more than just maintaining a pipeline of “high potential” individuals to step into leadership roles. While the need for a new leader may arise suddenly, the leadership development and succession management process should be established well in advance of that need to ensure a smooth and effective transition and minimize risks. This requires a strategic, systematic and targeted approach that integrates leadership development and succession management to prepare the right individuals with the right skills for the right positions. In this meeting of the HR Executives SIG, we will learn and discuss proven best practices as well as how companies are addressing the many challenges in the important realm of leadership succession.

What is the best way to prepare your company for the departure of key leaders? And how do you ensure executives are engaged and motivated in continuing development so they can enhance their skills and provide a bench of internal successors? Join this interactive session aimed at helping you and your organization answer these important questions.

In the morning, Jennifer and Brian Schmeiser, owners of HR4D Consulting, LLC will provide key insights and strategies for tackling these important topics within your organization. Jennifer is a former Chief Human Resources Officer, having lead both HR and Communications. Brian has been consulting for the last 10 years leading large-scale program management and improvement projects for companies on a national level.

In the afternoon, we will have case studies provided by Leah Glaub, VP of HR at Johnsonville Sausage, and Kathy Drengler, VP of HR at Greenheck. Each of them will share key insights and learnings from their company's executive development and succession planning processes.

Who Should Attend: The HR Executives SIG is limited to HR directors and VP's at UWEBC member companies. Lower level managers and/or knowledge experts may attend if accompanied by a director or VP from their company.
