John Baumann Named 2019 UWEBI Distinguished Fellow

John Baumann, CEO of Colony Brands, is the 2019 UWEBI Distinguished Fellow Award Recipient.

In addition to his role as President of Colony Brands, John serves as President of the organization's data center, SCDC, and various catalog titles.

Throughout his career at Colony Brands, John has served numerous roles, including the Manager of New Customer Development, Director of Marketing, Executive Director of Marketing, Vice President Strategic Marketing and Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning. Prior to his arrival at Colony Brands, John worked for the Wisconsin State Journal newspaper as a sports reporter.

John received his MBA from Northwestern University and his BA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

In the community, John supports several organizations in a variety of roles, including:

  • Past President of Board of Directors, Monroe Arts Center; Current Vice President
  • Past President, Monroe Country Club Board of Directors
  • Past President, Green County YMCA, Current VP GC YMCA Foundation
  • Board of Directors, University of Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association
  • Board of Visitors, UW School of Veterinary Medicine
  • Board of Directors, Monsignor Thomas Campion Charitable Fund
  • John and Katie Baumann Inspiration Project
  • Fund Raising Chairman, United Way of Green County

John was recognized as the 2018 University of Wisconsin, Badger of the Year (Green County) and 2019 UW-Madison School of Journalism and Mass Communication Distinguished Service Honoree.

John resides in Monroe, Wisconsin with his wife Katie, dogs Gracie, Stella, Moxie and Brooks, and cat Frankie. In his free time, John enjoys golf, fishing, dog rescue, theatre and Badger sports.

John will be presented the award at the UWEBC's annual Business Best Practices and Emerging Technologies Conference on September 24, 2019.
